The Beginning

If you wish to begin at the beginning, this is the place to start. I’ve been saying that I will start a blog to document my year in Antarctica for a while, and this is it. The plan is to update this blog at least weekly. With luck there will be some insight into life there, pictures, and jokes*. I hope you enjoy.

Below is some info about how to contact me while I’m down there. If, for some reason you are reading this after I return in Nov 2020, thank you, but it may not be all that relevant by then:

-I will have internet 12hrs a day with which to check email, etc, though we are not allowed to stream video.

-I have an APO address there – let me know if you want it, but the last day to send things down is ~Dec 30.

-Anything cellphone exclusive will not work – no wifi at the pole.

-I will have phone access over the satellites, though the call-in number is not yet assigned.
